The guitar is a six-stringed plucked string instrument (a chordophone) of the lute family and is part of the musical ensemble called the acoustic and electric strings section. It is the most widely used musical instrument in folk music, blues, country and rock. The guitar is often played as a solo instrument. Famous guitarists include Muddy Waters, Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Guy and Charlie Christian. The guitar is also a common accompaniment instrument in jazz and other genres.

The Music Zoo carries an impressive assortment of guitars, both acoustic and electric, from leading manufacturers like 48th Street Custom, Artinger Guitars, Bearcat, Aria, Blackburn, B3, Chubtone, Danelectro, ESP, EVH, Gibson, Fender, GJ2, Gretsch, Guild, Ibanez, Knaggs Guitars, JAMIA, JAMIE, Kay, Kiesel, Koll, LP, LOUDON, Martin, Paul Reed Smith, and Strat, as well as many modern artist model models.

The modern acoustic and electric guitar evolved from the 16th century vihuela, a Spanish string instrument that was similar to the lute. The acoustic guitar owes its popularity in the 17th and 18th centuries to Spanish virtuoso Francisco Tarrega, who taught his pupils to play classical compositions that were not written for the instrument, and Andres Segovia, who gave it greater prominence as a concert instrument.
